It seems that aptitudes evaluation was the first reason for using tests historically. Aptitudes assessments are carried out to predict how well the subject would be able to manage with certain tasks based on the tasks, presented in tests. Nowadays these tests are widely used by the business employers, vocational guidance centers, armed forces, etc.
